Frequently Asked Questions

Hire and Reward breakdown insurance is an insurance policy that covers you for motor breakdowns while carrying parcels, packages or people in your vehicle for business purposes (for example, taxi drivers and delivery drivers). With this type of cover, if the vehicle you use for your business breaks down, a trained professional will be sent out to get you back on the road or, if this is not possible, to transport you to your home (within 20 miles) or the nearest garage.

To find out whether or not your standard motor policy covers breakdowns you’ll need to take a look at your policy documents. However, typically, a standard policy won’t cover breakdown recovery; you’ll generally only be covered for costs and compensation for damage or injury caused by an accident.

So, for the most part, to benefit from repair or recovery in the event of a breakdown, you’ll need breakdown cover.

No, roadside assistance is not the same as breakdown cover. Rather, roadside assistance is a more basic form of breakdown cover that only sends someone out to the scene of the breakdown to try to repair your vehicle and usually does not include recovery.

Yes, as long as you purchase one of our ‘Plus’ policies. Our National and European Plus policies cover within ¾ of your home address. However, lower levels of cover will only assist you if you break down more than ¾ of a mile from home.

Our standard policy covers you in the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

If you have chosen European or European Plus, your cover is also valid in the countries listed under the definition of “Territorial Limits (Europe)” which can be found in the Definitions section at the end of the Policy Document.

With our policy, you can opt for a low or zero-excess option.

However, it's important to note that the cost of your excess will depend on the policy options you choose and if you opt for no excess this will increase your premiums.
